Galapagos Alta Sailing Yacht
Alta is one of the most beautiful yachts in the Galapagos; she is ideal for travelers who seek exclusivity and uniqueness. Built in Norway, Alta is a ketch rigged Motor Sailer, a very stylish yacht that has that special charm of a sailing ship. She is 46 m / 140 ft long and can reach the speed of 10 knots under power and even 14 knots under sail.

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS LUXURY CLASS SAILING YACHT "M/Y ALTA"
The main salon of Alta is very elegant and inviting. There is a curving banquet and coffee table which stand just in front of a cabinet with TV/Video system. There are 8 fancy decorated cabins for up to 16 passengers. They are equipped with ample hanging locker and drawer space. Each cabin has their private facilities with fresh, hot and cold water showers, Air conditioning throughout and an icemaker icemaker.
At mealtimes, there are two alternatives: inside, in the dining salon, which seats sixteen in four tables, or "al fresco", on the foredeck. The gourmet galley is equipped to prepare the finest dishes. There are many spots for relaxing or sunning, including a sundeck with lounge chairs. When the conditions are appropriate, the sails will be hoisted and Alta will become the most beautiful yacht in the Galapagos.

Ochoa Beach: Wet landing,snorkelling, sea lions, coastal birds.
Interpretation Center: Dry landing, geological interpretation and human history of the islands

Prince Phillip's Steps: Dry landing, hiking, red footed boobies and many other sea birds
Darwin Bay Beach: Wet landing, hiking, snorkelling, sunken crater, red footed boobies, hammer head sharks.
Day 3: Tuesday
AM Punta Espinosa (Fernandina Island)

Elizabeth Bay (Isabela Island)
Punta Espinoza : Dry landing, hiking, lava fields, marine iguanas, flightless cormorants.
Elizabeth Bay:
Panga trip to the entrance to the bay, visit the Mariela Islands which offer an excellent opportunity to see penguins. The end of the bay is notable for three species of mangroves, and rays and turtles can be found in the waters. The snorkeling here is very good. The abundance of small fish is striking, you can also spot tuna and sea turtles.

Day 4: Wednesday

Tagus Cove: Dry landing, hiking, sightseeing, salt lagoon crater, historic graffitti
Urbina Bay: Possible observation of whales and/or dolphins. Wet landing for a medium-length walk to look for giant tortoises and land iguanas. Gaunt marine skeletons, swimming and snorkeling.
Day 5: Thursday
AM James Bay (Santiago Island)

Bartolome Island
James Bay: Wet landing, this place was, in the 1920s and 1960s, the site of failed attempts at salt mining. One of the main features are the tidal pools which are populated by fur seals and Sally Lightfoot crabs. Birds include the Galapagos dove and Galapagos hawk, oyster catchers and night herons.

Bartolome Island:
Dry and wet landings, hiking, snorkeling, Pinnacle rock, Green sea turtles, Galapagos Penguins, white tipped reef sharks
Day 6: Friday

Charles Darwin Station: Dry landing, walking, science, Giant tortoises, baby tortoises.
Highlands of Santa Cruz:
Dry landing, hiking, Darwin's finches, giant tortoises, land birds, lava tunnels, volcanic craters.

Punta Suarez: Dry landing, hiking, blowhole, waved albatross(april to december), masked boobies
Gardner Bay:
Wet landing, hiking, snokelling, sea lions, marine iguanas, shore birds, sea turtles, white tipped reef sharks.
Day 8: Sunday
AM León Dormido and Lobos Island, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno Airport (San Cristobal Island)
Leon Dormido (Sleeping Lion) or Kicker Rock: While not on the island itself, Leon Dormido is a rock formation in the sea north west of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. This is a vertical rock formation formed from a tuff cone and about 500 feet high.
It is not possible to land here but a panga trip can be made between the two rocks which make up the formation. Blue footed boobies, masked boobies, frigatebirds and sea-lions can be seen here.
Lobos Island:
Wet landing, a small island, it's main claim to fame are the sea lions from which it takes it's name. Blue footed boobies and frigate birds also nest here.

Advantages

The privacy of a smaller yacht is unparalelled, service and food are much better than on the larger ships, the Alta is a luxury class yacht in the islands and has one of the best itineraries amongst the smaller boats, a smaller boat docks closer to the islands, a smaller boat allows for more flexibility, no lines or cues waiting for dinner or landing on the islands.

Disadvantages

Less people to socialize with than on larger vessels, less stability and more movement than on larger vessels, people prone to seasickness are better off on a larger vessel.
